Background: LANCL2 belongs to the LanC like protein family. It is expressed in the brain and testis. LANCL2 is a bystander gene coamplified and overexpressed with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) in 20% of all glioblastomas. Its exogenous expression in a sarcoma cell line decreases the expression of ABCB1 (P glycoprotein 1) and increases cellular sensitivity to an anticancer drug (adriamycin).
